One afternoon, Khalfan Soragha was browsing through the local newspaper in Wichita, Kansas looking for a change. Up until then, he had always worked for other people. Now, he had an urge to be his own boss. Soon, he came across an ad outlining the benefits of getting into the carpet cleaning business. In addition to a low upfront capital investment, it seemed like this was precisely what he had been looking for. He called the number in the ad, purchased a portable carpet extractor and was off.
That was in 2003. Flash forward almost two decades and Khalfan Soragha is now at the forefront of KHS Steamer, one of the premiere businesses of its type located anywhere in or around the area today.
Despite the fact that Khalfan hadn’t worked for any carpet cleaning company prior to starting his business, he didn’t let that stop him from doing things properly. He quickly obtained his certification in carpet cleaning by the Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification, otherwise known as the IICRC. This is a non-profit organization dedicated to the inspection, the cleaning and the restoration industries.
Though his business (and indeed, the industry) may have changed since 2003, a few things have remained the same. For starters, Khalfan deeply enjoys not only the sense of accomplishment that his work gives him, but the opportunity to know that he has made someone’s home a better place.
Secondly, from the moment he opened his doors until now, he has gone out of his way to treat every customer like family. He wants them to know him on a first-name basis and he believes in being as upfront and as transparent regarding things like pricing as possible. Truly, those are ideals that he will never stop working to live up to.
